On April 23 and May 2, Norfolk police conducted a special alcohol compliance selective in Norfolk.
Norfolk police, along with cooperating individuals under 21 years old, attempted to purchase alcohol from approximately 60 businesses in Norfolk, according to Capt. Don Miller of the Norfolk Police Division.
The majority of businesses responded properly and did not sell to minors after checking identifications. However, there were eight business that did sell alcohol to minors. In those cases, the employee was cited for selling to a minor and reports will be forwarded to the Nebraska Liquors Commission for review.
The businesses that sold to minors were Applebee’s, Pizza Hut North, Mel’s Bar, Uncle Jarrol’s, 5th Street Bar, Hy-Vee West Gas, Cubby’s and Casey’s.
Norfolk Police obtained a grant from the Healthy Communities Initiative and the Elkhorn Logan Valley Public Health Department to offset the costs of the enforcement.
