Drug, Alcohol and Vaping Prevention programs:
Elkhorn Logan Valley Public Health Department has several programs geared towards the prevention of drug and alcohol misuse and educating about the dangers of drugs, alcohol and vaping.
Services offered:
- Evidence-based and/or research-informed substance abuse prevention programs dealing with drug and alcohol abuse, bullying, making good choices, and leadership skills at many of our area schools. Would you like to get one of these programs into your school? Call us!
- Fatal Vision Goggle activities are performed at local middle school, junior high and high schools. This is available to any school in our area upon request in conjunction with substance abuse prevention activities.
- Printed materials on drug and alcohol abuse and misuse.
- Responsible Beverage server training for businesses selling or serving alcohol to help stop underage drinking and excessive drinking. Call to get your class scheduled today!
- We help fund alcohol compliance checks performed annually by the Nebraska State Patrol and the Norfolk Police Department.
- Host booths at health fairs, school events, and other public events to educate the public on drug & alcohol misuse and vaping.
- Collect and analyze data to determine current drug abuse trends.
- Prescription Drug Take-Back: There are two permanent collection boxes have been placed at the West Point Police Department and the Norfolk Police Department to collect outdated, unwanted or unused prescription drugs. Hours of operation to access the prescription take-back collection boxes for each location are as follows:
- West Point Police Department: Monday - Friday from 9am to 5pm
- Norfolk Police Department: Anytime 24/7
- Many pharmacies in the district also have prescription take-back programs for outdated, unwanted or expired prescription drugs - please check with your local pharmacy.
