Area preschools and
childcare centers participating in “Smile in Style”
February is National Children’s Dental Health Month! The
foundation for a lifetime of healthy teeth begins when a child is young. With proper brushing and care, a healthy diet and regular dental visits, children’s
teeth can remain healthy and strong. To encourage
healthy dental habits, Elkhorn Logan Valley Public Health Department (ELVPHD)
is working with 6 childcare centers and preschools in our service area to
educate parents and their children on healthy dental habits and to provide
preventative fluoride treatments.
ELVPHD is working with two dental hygienists in our service
area to bring the program to the childcare centers and preschools where over
250 children are expected to participate.
In addition to the fluoride varnish services, the ELVPHD project
coordinator will be educating the parents on how to help their children have
good oral health. The children will also take part in activities to help them
learn how to properly brush and care for their teeth.
The Smile in Style program is funded by the Nebraska
Department of Health and Human Services.
