Free Colon Cancer Screening Kits Available

Colorectal cancer is the third most common cause of cancer death in both men and women in the United States. Awareness and screening is key because this is a cancer that is treatable, curable, and in many cases, completely preventable. Over 91% of colorectal cancer cases are found in adults aged 50 and over, which is why yearly screenings are important if you are over 50. There are various screening tests available and people are encouraged to speak to their health care provider about which screening is right for them.

 

To help with this important health issue, the Elkhorn Logan Valley Public Health Department has free Fecal Occult Blood Test (FOBT) kits available for people between the ages of 50-74 at the following locations in Burt, Cuming, Madison and Stanton counties:

 

Norfolk: CVS, Hy-Vee East Pharmacy, Hy-Vee West Pharmacy, Wal-Mart Pharmacy,

               U-Save Pharmacy, Elkhorn Logan Valley Public Health Department Norfolk Office,                     Walgreens

Madison: Louderback Drug

Battle Creek: Battle Creek Family Medicine

Tilden: FRPS Tilden Family Medicine, Hofmann Pharmacy

Stanton: Stanton County Extension office   

West Point: ShopKo Hometown Pharmacy, Tom’s Rexall Drug

Wisner: Wisner Apothecary, Elkhorn Logan Valley Public Health Department Wisner Office
