Colorectal cancer is the third most common cause of cancer death in both men and women in the United States. Awareness and screening is key because this is a cancer that is treatable, curable, and in many cases, completely preventable. Over 91% of colorectal cancer cases are found in adults aged 50 and over, which is why yearly screenings are important if you are over 50. There are various screening tests available and people are encouraged to speak to their health care provider about which screening is right for them.
For more information about the free screening kits, please contact the Elkhorn Logan Valley Public Health Department at (402) 529-2233.
