Elkhorn Logan Valley Public Health Department (ELVPHD) is pleased to announce that two new Tai Chi classes are set to begin in Norfolk during January 2018. Tai Chi classes are a great way for seniors to improve strength, flexibility and balance.

The first class series will take place on Mondays & Wednesdays beginning Monday, January 22nd at the Norfolk Senior Center from 4:00pm to 5:00pm and will last for 12 weeks. Mary Wakeley will be the class instructor. There is no cost for the class; however, a free will donation at the class sessions will be accepted.

The second class series will take place on Tuesdays & Thursdays beginning Tuesday, January 23rd at the First United Methodist Church from 9:00am to 10:00am and will last for 12 weeks. Mary Wakeley will be the class instructor. There is no cost for the class; however, a free will donation at the class sessions will be accepted.

Tai Chi puts minimal stress on joints, is generally safe for people of all ages, and is very beneficial for those sixty years of age or older.  Outcomes from past classes show that 85% of the participants improved their Timed Up and Go (TUG) mobility and fall risk test score from the first to the final class.

Registration is required by calling 402-529-2233 or by emailing Krista@elvphd.org. Space is limited. Public health aims to make people and communities healthy and safe.
