For more than 10 years, the Elkhorn Logan Valley Public Health Department has built a track record of providing essential health care services to children and families across Northeast Nebraska.

Elkhorn Logan Valley celebrated the opening of its new location in downtown Norfolk, improving upon its ability to provide public health services and programs across Burt, Cuming, Stanton and Madison counties.

In October of this year, Elkhorn Logan Valley was recognized by Gov. Jim Pillen as one of 27 organizations in the state that encourage healthy lifestyles, nutrition and overall wellness in their workplaces and among those they serve. The organization also has been recognized for its response to the COVID-19 health care crisis and for working to save the lives of Nebraskans during the pandemic.

Elkhorn Logan Valley focuses on providing essential health care services to close to 60,000 residents in the region, including:

— Vaccinations for children and families.

— Personal health care programming for weight loss and nutrition.

— Public education about critical health care issues.

— Research and diagnosis of public health hazards.

— Establishing partnerships with other community organizations to address public health concerns.

— Cancer prevention and screening.

— Behavioral health programs and treatment.

Elkhorn Logan Valley also recently announced a partnership with the Norfolk Senior Center to offer a Bingocize program for the elderly. The program, which started Dec. 4, offers participants a fun way to stay active and play bingo. The classes are on Monday and Wednesday each week.

From offices in Wisner, Norfolk and Tekamah, the health department provides services five days a week from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Norfolk location may be found at 128 W. Norfolk Ave. and is open Monday through Thursday. Those seeking medical services or wanting to participate in the health department’s programs can visit its website at www.elvphd.ne.gov for more information. More information about the department’s services also may be found on its Facebook page.
