Friday, February 16, 2018

Elkhorn Logan Valley Public Health Department (ELVPHD) has teamed up with St. John’s Lutheran Church and is pleased to announce that a Tai Chi class series is set to begin in Battle Creek during March 2018. Tai Chi classes are a great way for seniors to improve strength, flexibility and balance.

The class series will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm beginning Tuesday, March 13th at In His Arms Childcare and will last for 12 weeks. Krista Snodgrass will be the class instructor. There is no cost for the class; however, a free will donation at the class sessions will be accepted.

Tai Chi puts minimal stress on joints, is generally safe for people of all ages, and is very beneficial for those sixty years of age or older.  Outcomes from past classes show that 85% of the participants improved their Timed Up and Go (TUG) mobility and fall risk test score from the first to the final class.

Registration is required by calling St. John’s Lutheran Church at 402-675-3155 or email Space is limited. Public health aims to make people and communities healthy and safe. In doing so, ELVPHD offers many services and programs to local residents and businesses of Burt, Cuming, Stanton and Madison counties in northeast Nebraska. Visit us online today at:
