One in four older adults has a fall each year according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Falls are not a normal part of aging and can be prevented. The Stepping On program, offered in Tekamah by Elkhorn Logan Valley Public Health, has been researched and proven to reduce falls by 31%. The Stepping On classes will be held each Wednesday at 3pm starting August 3rd for 6 weeks at the Tekamah Chatt Center.
Stepping On gives participants the strategies for avoiding falls including balance and strength exercises, home safety checklist suggestions, medication review, and more. The workshop is designed specifically for people who age 60 or older and provides practical information for preventing falls.
Registration is required as class size is limited. To register, please call 402-529-3839 or email jody@elvphd.org or online at https://elvphd.org/Classes-Events
