One in four older adults has a fall each year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). While falls are common, they are not a normal part of aging—and many can be prevented. To help older adults stay independent and reduce their risk of falling, Elkhorn Logan Valley Public Health (ELVPHD) is partnering with Franciscan Healthcare to offer the Stepping On Fall Prevention program, beginning April 1st at 9am.
The seven-week program is FREE and will be held once a week at Franciscan Healthcare in West Point in the Francis Education Room on the second floor (430 N Monitor, West Point, NE). Designed for adults aged 60 and older, this fun and interactive class provides proven strategies to prevent falls and maintain independence. Participants will learn about balance and strength exercises, home safety checklists, medication reviews, and other practical tools from guest experts to reduce their fall risk.
Class size is limited so register early. You can register online at elvphd.ne.gov/News-Events/Classes-Events or call 402-529-2233.
