Tai Chi Classes Beginning February 2017 in Beemer

Elkhorn Logan Valley Public Health Department is pleased to announce that Tai Chi classes are set to begin Monday, February 13, 2017, at St. John’s church in Beemer.  Tai Chi is a form of exercise that assists with flexibility and balance.  It puts minimal stress on joints, is generally safe for people of all ages, and is especially beneficial for those sixty years of age or older.  Outcomes from past classes show that 85% of the participants improved their Timed Up and Go (TUG) mobility and fall risk test score from the first to the final class.

We invite you to take part in the upcoming Tai Chi class series that will begin on Monday, February 13, 2017. Class will be held every Monday & Thursday for 12 weeks from 9:00am – 10:00am at St. John’s Church, Beemer.  Susie Cohee will be the class instructor and the series is $48 for the 12 week series (24 classes).

Norfolk Immunization Clinic at Elkhorn Logan Valley Public Health

Elkhorn Logan Valley Public Health Department (ELVPHD) will hold the Norfolk Vaccines for Children (VFC) Immunization clinic at 302 W. Phillip Ave. beginning in February.  The immunization clinic will be held the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Wednesdays of each month from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm and the 4th Wednesday of each month from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm. ELVPHD’s immunization program provides childhood immunizations to VFC eligible children as well as for private pay and most insurances.  Immunizations are needed for infants at ages 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 12-15 months & 18 months. For school-aged children, immunizations are needed prior to entry into kindergarten (ages 4-6 years) and prior to entry into 7th grade (11-13 years).  

Each child should be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.   A current copy of the child’s past immunization records are required at each visit.  A proxy form is needed when a parent or legal guardian is unable to attend the clinic with the child.  All clinic forms may be obtained by visiting ... continue reading
